In a double entendre on the word Juneteenth, Harriett’s Bookshop and Friends of the Tanner House propose a calling forth dedicated to June Jordan at Harriett's Bookshop on June 19th with poets, musicians, scholars, artists, and families gathered to honor Jordan’s legacy with a Fish Fry and BBQ by Chef Tonia Renee (confirmed) and matching literary family tree tees—think an old school family reunion with cousins you perhaps have yet to meet.


Veneration:

June Jordan was a prophetic writer and thinker known for her poetry, essays, and advocacy. Let’s make sure new generations are made aware, her name is said by older generations, and her legacy remembered.


When:

Wednesday, June 19th, which aligns with Juneteenth, 12-6 pm

Life Studies Opening Tribute:

A keynote panel including Christopher Rogers and Coco Tomas Reed (confirmed) Alexis De Veaux ( confirmed) will provide insights into June Jordan’s local, national, and global contributions and set the tone for the day.
