The Power of Aerial Insights: Drone Use in Environmental Applications

Get ready for liftoff with our exciting program on drones! Our technical session will cover EGLE’s use of drones for photographic and sensory purposes, including a case study on methane emission sampling at two landfills in Michigan. There will be a display of different drones and a hands-on opportunity to fly small drones inside.

Presenters:

  • Art Ostaszewski, EGLE Drone/Sensor Coordinator, Information Management Division, EGLE
  • Jay Olaguer, Assistant Director, Air Quality Division, EGLE

Scholarship Fundraiser:

The annual Technical Session & Golf Outing event serves as our primary fund-raiser for the scholarship program that rewards regional students that have demonstrated leadership and commitment to our chapter’s mission. The combined technical session and golf outing is a great way to network with colleagues and clients. It can also be an excellent opportunity to promote team building with your associates.

Recognizing the critical role emerging professionals play in the future of air pollution control, waste management and other environmental management fields, WM-AWMA has long prioritized efforts to develop the next generation of environmental professionals in industry, government agencies, and research, as well as those of educators, attorneys, and consultants within West Michigan. Over the past years we have honored these future leaders by providing scholarships. Since 1994, WM-AWMA is proud to have presented $190,000 in scholarships to over 100 deserving students.

Your tax-deductible contribution will help WM-AWMA continue this tradition of support. Please give generously. Even if you are unable to attend this event, remember that contributions to the scholarship fund are always welcome.

Our events provide networking opportunities with the best environmental professionals in the area including regulators, members of industry, service providers, and others. Our events have provided members with direct access to Michigan Department of Environmental Quality leaders, learning opportunities on the latest news and new technology, field trips and educational opportunities, and a bit of fun mixed in!

With a Young Professionals group that is steadily growing, WM-AWMA provides a means for young professionals to begin building their professional network and expand upon their understanding of the environmental industry and regulatory framework.

Our membership also helps support scholarships and outreach activities with students interested in careers in the environmental industry.
