TWO TRACK OPTIONS (READ BELOW)DATES: Track A: July 16+17, July 23+24. (weekends) Track B: July 30+31, August 1+2 (consecutive days)ATTN: Undergraduates, recent graduates, and early career dance professionals! Are you interested in learning how to build a multi-faceted, sustainable career in the performing arts? Do you feel overwhelmed by the LA dance world and need guidance on where to begin? Are you looking to increase your (PAID) performing gigs within the concert and/or commercial dance worlds? Ready to take class (in person!) with LA’s leading choreographers and Artistic Directors? (most of whom don’t offer regular classes!) Need one on one feedback on your website, resume, or headshot? Looking to update your reel with new, high quality footage?! Then, Jumpstart/LA is for YOU! From technique and repertory classes to seminars, career counseling, and informal conversations with leaders in the field, the four days you spend at Jumpstart/LA is an investment in yourself and your career. With over 45 years of combined work experience in LA’s creative economy, we crafted this program to uplift the newest members of the field with clarity, resources, and inspiration. Each day will open with two seminars, followed by two to three movement classes (including contemporary, modern, ballet, floorwork, and more…). This jam-packed, four-day program will explore: Los Angeles’ vast, multifaceted dance world, history, and current landscape including key institutions, organizations, and resource hubsWhere to look for (PAID) performing, choreographic, and teaching opportunitiesResume, website, and headshot guidance (including personalized, 1 on 1 feedback and action items!)How to secure a commercial dance agentWays to work in both the concert and commercial dance worlds and how to balance the two… and we’ll have a ton of FUN.
