About this event

  • 5 hours

Join us for the Jumpstart Gallery show, a family and community art day that will host vendors, community partners, artists, and local elected officials in celebration of the art and culture that makes our city great. This free, family-friendly event is a chance for people of all ages and skill levels to explore their creativity through a variety of art activities led by local artists, view the works in the gallery, enjoy live music and performances by local talent, and support local vendors.

The Jumpstart Program is an arts enrichment program provided by the Arts Council of Long Beach that aims to enrich the lives of people in re-entry and youth diversion programs through art. In partnership with Centro CHA, Love Beyond Limits, Playnice, and the United Cambodian Community, the program provides an arts element. Over the course of several months, a group of professional teaching artists expose program participants to various artistic mediums and methods of self-expression through art. From photography and painting to music production and ceramics, participants are able to creatively explore and build skills that are essential to their personal and cultural development.

As the program concludes the 2024 season, the Arts Council for Long Beach is thrilled to announce JumpstART, a group exhibition that features artwork created by the youth and young adult participants of the Jumpstart Program. This event will open on June 15th, 2024, at the Long Beach City College Art Gallery. This exhibition further strengthens the program’s partnership with the college as it continues to expose community members to the wide array of academic resources and opportunities the campus offers
