Mentoring has been central to the development of people and societies since history began. Organizations and HR departments are grasping the potential that comes from successful mentoring programs, from talent development to career advancement to organizational intelligence.

Julia Sullivan will be sharing the mentoring programs that she has initiated across communities and organizations, and candidly sharing what she has learned in 1). the process of successful mentoring and 2). the keys to taking mentoring beyond survival and technical skills into the realm of personal evolution. For those of us who serve as mentors, are seeking a mentor, or are expanding mentoring in our organizations, Julia will illustrate the importance of:

<LI>Evaluating results</LI>
</UL>
Julia will introduce her mentoring framework, the 8 C’s of Self-leadership, Clarity, Compassion, Courage, Confidence, Curiosity, Creativity, Calmness, and Connectedness, and a 360 degree feedback instrument that helps mentors and mentees determine the level of Self-leadership displayed in “best,” “worst,” and “typical” states.

Julia Sullivan is well-known in Silicon Valley for her leadership in consulting, curriculum, and collaborative technologies. In 2014, she founded Just Mentors, an organization creating a new mentoring methodology, “Self-led Mentoring,” to serve under-represented entrepreneurs starting companies, as well as under-represented professionals seeking to thrive in corporate environments.
Julia taught in the Transition to General Management executive program offered by Columbia University, where she analyzed business cases participants wrote depicting the complex issues confronting their companies. She applied frameworks developed by Action Design and Chris Argyris of Harvard to help executives recognize, reframe, and rectify their contribution to challenging situations.
In 2003, the Stanford Graduate School of Business awarded Julia the Jerry I. Porras Latino Leadership award to recognize her professional achievements and her contributions to the community. She earned a Bachelor in Industrial Administration from Kettering University and was one of the first Latinas to earn an MBA from Stanford. She is currently the Co-President of the Hispanic Alumni Chapter of the Stanford GSB, leading unprecedented activities that engage all alumni on issues and solutions related to race, inclusion, and equity.
Julia and her husband Chris are very active in their community. They mentor individuals, couples and families drawing upon their experience parenting a blended family of three sons and four daughters.
