About Jubilee Jobs:

Jubilee Jobs was founded in 1981 to connect residents of the Columbia Heights neighborhood with opportunities to prosper through employment. Over the last 43 years Jubilee Jobs has grown to serve disadvantaged residents throughout the city and placed 28,000 people in jobs. We serve our applicants with compassion and the understanding that everyone deserves the chance to invest in a brighter future.

About our Keynote Speaker, Alexandra Petri:

Alexandra Petri is a humor columnist for the Washington Post. Her satire has also appeared in McSweeney's and the New Yorker's "Daily Shouts and Murmurs", in other newspapers (hello, Salt Lake Tribune!), on the radio, and on TV.

Since 1981, Jubilee Jobs has been connecting employers across the Washington, DC metropolitan area with qualified and well-prepared candidates, helping over 27,000 individuals find employment through its professional, compassionate job preparation and placement programs, one person at a time.

In 2021, 328 people came to Jubilee Jobs to find employment. Of those, 300 found marketplace jobs. Of the total placed, 108 were returning citizens, 50 were homeless, 142 received public assistance, 83 were parents of 147 minor children, and 77 were under the age 30. Jubilee Jobs also provides a structured focus to young adults.

Jubilee Jobs is supported entirely by private contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, and churches. A host of caring and committed volunteers, including members of the Benefit Committee and the Jubilee Jobs Board of Directors, provide an extensive community of support that aids Jubilee Jobs in its mission, helping applicants in their journey toward sustenance, dignity, and hope.
