Our MissionThe mission of the Chattanooga Festival Of Black Arts & Ideas: Juneteenth Independence Day  is to showcase emerging and established local artists of African descent who are creating, innovating and producing extraordinary work in the disciplines of dance, film, literature, music, theater and visual art. By producing a multidisciplinary festival CFBA&I will build greater community awareness of the diversity of Black arts within the city of Chattanooga and Ha​milton County.In addition, the festival's mission is to provide opportunities for discussions and lectures on a variety of topics that connect Black arts to other important areas in our society. This is the “Ideas” part of the festival.Our VisionThe Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas: Juneteenth Independence Day will gain a reputation for providing audiences with artistic experiences created by Black artists that are extraordinary, enriching and educational.

Inaugural Juba Dance Ensemble Performance

Chattanooga Theatre Centre

<p>This is the inaugural performance of the Juba Dance Ensemble under the direction of Crystal Newson. You will be taken on a journey through the history of dance created by Black people. From African to Hip-hop and everything in between. All the dancers are local artist that have appeared in various performances throughout Chattanooga and Hamilton County. You will be moved and educated to all that is dance and its connections to each other. </p>
