Description


The Jr. Naturalist Program is offered through the Orange County Environmental Protection Division to provide opportunities for students, ages 8-14, to learn about nature through outdoor exploration, environmental activities and wildlife interaction. All classes are free and open to the public. Space is limited and varies per class. If registration is full, you may select to be added to the waitlist. Please note that most of our classes are held on conservation properties that do not have restrooms or other public facilities.

Group Instructions: Please make sure all members register individually and the group leader provides contact information along with total number of participants. Group leaders should confirm attendance through the contact tab one week prior to the event.

Caterpillar Crawl

Curious about caterpillars? Some crawl on the ground, some twirl from trees. Our caterpillar crawl hike will take a close-up look at caterpillars and their behaviors, and then venture out on the trail for a caterpillar hunt.

Please note there are no public restrooms available at this site.

May 19, 2018- The Buzz on Bees

10-11:30 a.m.

Our last class for the 2017-2018 season will be on native bees in central Florida. You will learn identification tips for different species, like the leafcutter bee, where they live, and what they need in a garden to thrive. EPD staff will take a you on a pollinator hike in the flower gardens to observe bees at work and demonstrate pollination with a hands-on activity.
