And all with a wink, a sly smile and a lot of fun!Joyce Lyons, (AEA, SAG-AFTRA) is part singer, actress and comedian. Reared in Gaithersburg, Maryland, she found her way to Colorado Women’s College where she studied with one Durango’s favorite musicians, Tom MacCluseky. After college, Joyce headed to New York City, where she trod the streets for work; a little waitressing (very little), a little office work (more than a very little), a lot of singing and acting to boot. Joyce worked with some of New York’s finest musicians, from the exquisite writings of Dick Lieb, to the spellbinding arrangements of Lee Musiker and the auspicious and ever playful lyrics of bass accompanist Jay Leonhart. A proponent of the “lyric is everything,” Joyce began her master class at Fort Lewis College several years ago at the suggestion of Mr. MacCluskey. “There is no greater joy than when a student ‘gets it!’ “When they have connected to something deep inside and bring it forth in their performance.” Leaving in NYC in late 2009, Joyce has continued her musical/theatrical journey to the upper midwest of Minnesota, where she has developed a loyal following.&quot;There’s a new voice in town, and the local jazz scene is all the better for it.&quot;— Andrea Canter, The Jazz Policewww.joycelyons.netA native of Chicago, Phil Aaron studied piano and composition at Northwestern University, The University of Illinois and Berklee School of Music. By day, he is an Emmy winning composer for film and TV, having composed scores and main themes for numerous local and national TV shows, documentaries and feature films. By night he is an in-demand pianist on the Twin Cities jazz scene. Phil has performed with Lee Konitz, Eric Alexander, Delfayo Marsalis, Jim Rotundi, Jim Snidero, Byron Stripling, John Fedchock, Kendra Shank, Jackie Allen, John, Patitucci, Bob Shepard, Barbara Morrison, Muddy Waters and many others. He currently leads The Phil Aaron Trio and holds down the piano chair with many local groups including The Phil Hey Quartet, Twin Cities 7, The MN Hard Bop Collective, Maryann and the Moneymakers, Joyce Lyons, and Steve Clarke and The Working Stiffs.Graydon Peterson is one of the backbones of the jazz scene in the Twin Cities. Known as a guy who excels at many styles, Graydon has played with the Twin Cities’ top jazz singers and modern jazz groups, and has toured around the United States and Cuba. Graydon&#x27;s unique and groove-based compositions can be heard with his own quartet, the Graydon Peterson Quartet, and the trio Firebell. Graydon has worked and collaborated with Francisco Mela, Babatunde Lea, Adam Meckler, Nancy Harms, and Chris Morrissey, and continues to be a nightly presence in the Twin Cities. Graydon is part of the Shifting Paradigms Record collective which supports established and emerging jazz musicians from the Twin Cities and beyond. You can find Graydon&#x27;s two albums, Graydon Peterson Quartet (2013) and Duets (2015) there as well as other projects that Graydon has been a part of. Jay Epstein has spent several decades performing, recording and touring in the jazz game. He studied at the University of Impluse and Blue Note records, and polyrhythmic concepts with Barry Atschul, the drummer in Chick Corea’s Circle. Jay has lived all over the country and performed in house bands on several cruise lines. European tours with pianist Bill Carrothrs and Giacomo Aula. Shared a few choruses with Rockie Robbins, Barney Kessel, Roseanna Vitro, Manfredo Fest, Sheila Jordan, Terry Gibgs, Eric Alexander, Karrin Allyson, Howard Levy, Toots Thielemans, Roy Hargrove, Bob Dorough and Sarah Vaughn. Current bands include Red Planet, Framework, Fireball, Tall Tales, Gypsy Mania, Lomheim/O’Brien/Epstein, Sam Miltich &amp; Andrew Walesch. Jay has endorsed Bosphorus Cymbals since 1997.
