Bring your own mobile phones and laptops for an evening of learning and doing. Join Hacks/Hackers NYC and <A HREF="https://www.nycresistor.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NYC Resistor</A> on April 4 at 6:30 p.m. for a hands-on encryption and digital security workshop for journalists.
Why and when would you want to encrypt your communications? What type of security does encryption provide? What type of security doesn't encryption provide? What should you be aware of, what should you install and how do you use tools to keep your communications with sources and colleagues secure?
<A HREF="https://journalism.columbia.edu/faculty/susan-mcgregor" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Susan McGregor</A> of Columbia University and volunteers from NYC Resistor and Freedom of the Press Foundation will give us the big picture, specific advice, and help you install their recommended encryption software, including:
