John Chapter 12
Overview
From Benjamin Franklin to Edgar Allen Poe, multiple American authors have been attributed to have said, "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see." Belief is something that everyone has and does, but that is entirely personal to each individual. In John 12, after having performed signs and wonders amongst the people of Israel and Samaria for the previous three years, there were many who still did not believe that Jesus is Who He says He is--God, in the flesh.
The Pharisees refused to believe that Jesus was anything other than an imposter and sought His death, in spite of the way He fulfilled every Old Testament prophecy written about Him. Just four days before the perfect God Man would be falsely accused and put to death, Jesus called people to believe--to trust what their eyes had see, what their ears had heard, and what their hearts could recognize by their knowledge of the God Who had made them--that He was and is God With Us--Emmanuel, Who came to be the Savior of the world, Who would not stay in the grave, but three days later, would rise from the dead to life, eternal.
