SBGS plans to have masks available.</h3><h3>* Social distancing between groups will be in effect</h3>----------------------------------------------------------------------------Our season of live concerts continues on Saturday, February 5 with a performance by Johan Smith, winner of the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist competition in 2019. Smith was hailed by the French magazine Guitare Classique as the &quot;Classical Guitar Revelation 2017.&quot; He has performed in prominent festivals, as concert artist and soloist, and with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, and the Verbier Festival Orchestra.Born in 1990 in Geneva, Johan obtained bachelor and masters degrees at the University of Music of Lausanne, studying with Dagoberto Linhares. Johan teaches guitar at the Conservatory of Morges.Johan is especially interested in contemporary music and has collaborated with a number of current composers, including Josquin Schwizgebel and Arnaud Fillion, both of whom dedicated compositions to Johan.People are sometimes surprised to learn about an altogether different aspect of Johan’s creative activities. He is the founder, composer, performer, and graphic designer in the Swiss technical/death metal band Stortregn (“Downpour” in Swedish), with whom he has recorded four albums and played on three continents.Johan is an inventive artist and electrifying performer, an exciting new voice in the world of classical guitar.
