Winner of the solo/duo category at the 2024 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and winner of the Telluride Blues Challenge in Telluride Colorado in 2022, hometown Daytonian blues hero Joe Waters takes the stage with a national credibility that’s rare for a Midwestern musician. That cred also came to the attention of promoters for guitarist extraordinaire George Thorogood, and Waters was recently invited to open for George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Joe’s love for playing music started when he was 5 years old after his parents bought him a harmonica from the Cracker Barrel gift shop. Joe dedicated himself to learning not only the harmonica but the guitar, drums, and vocals as well. Years later, he’s equally at home with diverse roles fronting an electric blues band, fingerpicking country blues solo, and songwriting as if he were an original Yazoo Records artist.
His performance at Waynesville Music on Saturday June 29 will be solo, an intimate listening room experience. The venue can only accommodate an audience of 30 people, so be sure to buy tickets in advance and avoid the likely chance that this show will sell out.
