It's almost time for summer ultimate, and this season will be DIFFERENT!
We'll be splitting the field three ways across, which means we'll have three shorts fields. That means three games at the same time. And that means three games every week for each team!
What's different?
- 5v5 instead of 7v7
- 2 points for end zone to end zone scores
- Shorter stall counts
- 8 total weeks instead of 10
Why the change?
- While the number of participants is basically the same in the summer, teams tend to have fewer players each week because of vacations, kids sports, travel, etc.
- Summer months have been getting hotter. Fewer players on the field allows for more time off the field. Fewer weeks allows us to work around any heat cancellations, too.
- Shorter fields SHOULD allow quicker points with more breaks between.
(We'll return to longer fields and normal rules in the fall. )
The season starts June 18 and runs 8 weeks. Most of those weeks will be at Shawnee Sports Complex in Dunbar. We'll play one week at Barboursville Sports Complex.
A tournament ends the season in August.
Registration is $20+fees.
For players who have never before played in our league, the cost is $16.
Final registration ends Sunday, June 8 at 6PM.
We'll announce rosters at a Draft Party in June. More details to come.
