Welcome to the Jim Shifrin Tribute Concert!
On Sunday, June 9th, the Jim Shifrin Tribute Concert will take place at Camp Hemlocks in Hebron, Connecticut, from 1PM-5PM. Tickets are $20.00, under 12 free. All proceeds will benefit the Bailey's Garden Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting and advocating for persons with disabilities and their families.
Jim Shifrin and his wife Mary-Grace started the Bailey's Garden Foundation in memory of their daughter Bailey, who passed away in 2004 when she was only seven years old. Bailey was born with Trisomy 18, a debilitating physical illness. Jim and Mary Grace created a movement for awareness of physically handicapped children in honor of Bailey's life and spirit. In 2015 they completed a fully handicapped accessible playground in Lebanon, Connecticut in Bailey's memory.
Jim passed away unexpectedly in September, 2023. To recognize his amazing gifts as a singer, bandleader, and guitarist, his former bandmate, Matthew Solak, has organized a tribute concert on his behalf. Jim and Matt played together in the BSides acoustic band for nearly ten years. Even after suffering a terrible mountain bike accident that left him paralyzed in 2017, Jim continued to perform as a singer until his passing. He left an indelible impression on everyone fortunate enough to see him perform.
In recognition of his talents, this tribute concert will be the final time the BSides setlist and songs from Jim's songbook will be played live. An amazing group of performers including The Gatekeepers Band, Rani Arbo and Scott Kessel from Daisy Mayhem, and Mike Arafeh from Coffeehouse Records and the Therapy Band will perform Jim's favorite material as new and collaborative covers.
This will be a one-time only event and a perfect family friendly concert to celebrate the music and memory of Jim. Bring a nonalcoholic picnic basket and enjoy the show.
