THE BAND:

Highly respected multi-instrumentalist Tim Boniface delivers a powerful and irrepressibly swinging sound on alto and tenor saxophones, and a harmonic and rhythmic approach to piano reminiscent of the great Oscar Peterson. Tim's performances are shot through with energy and a great connection with the audience. As well as performing classic jazz repertoire with many of the UKs top jazz musicians, Tim has composed three acclaimed jazz suites - The Infant, The Eight Words and Psalter:Themes for Peace - which he tours with his quartet.

In addition to these albums, Tim’s collaborations have included work with Tony Kofi, Polly Gibbons, James Pearson, Jo Harrop, Scott Hamilton, Nigel Price, Tara Minton, and star vocalist Irene Serra, with whom he has developed a project based on the music of Dexter Gordon and Nancy Wilson. Tim is also the Chaplain at Girton College in Cambridge and a published theologian.

Guitar master Colin Oxley won 'Best Soloist' in the National Big Band Competition in 1990 and has gone on to pursue a highly successful musical career. As a long standing member of Stacey Kent's group he recorded several albums as well as touring extensively, including appearances at the Montreux and North Sea jazz festivals and residencies in New York and San Francisco. He is currently a member of Steve Fishwick's Quartet, the Dave Newton Quartet, the Back to Basie Orchestra, John Wilson's Orchestra and many more. Colin has also performed with American legends Scott Hamilton, Harry Allen, Hod O'Brien, John Bunch, Houston Person, Warren Vache, Jeff Hamilton and Bob Dorough, as well as many of Britain's top players.

In the year 2000, Colin was voted Jazz Musician of the Year by the Worshipful Company of Musicians. In between touring and recording, Colin is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Bassist Malcolm Creese combines jazz and classical performances with film, television and recording work. He studied cello at London’s Guildhall School of Music, later switching to bass. He has worked with George Shearing, Clark Terry, Johnny Griffin, Cleo Laine, George Benson, Lee Konitz, Mose Allison, Diana Ross, Sting, John Paul Jones, James Galway, Carolyn Sampson, John Williams, the Allegri, Fitzwilliam and Sacconi String Quartets, and the LSO, LPO and RPO.

Malcolm’s film credits include Lord of the Rings, Cold Mountain, Shreck, Gladiator and Paddington. He is a member of the jazz trio Acoustic Triangle with Tim Garland and Gwilym Simcock, he owns the Audio-B record label, he has taught and examined at the Royal Academy and Trinity College, and he has directed the Swaledale Festival since 2007.
