Learn Java programming through hands-on practices for 9-12th grade students, being ready for real-world application in FRC competitions!

<h2>Class Description</h2><h3>The program is designed to learn Java programming with the goal that all students will be capable to program a complex FRC robot for basic functions.</h3>
This course is typically geared toward students entering grades 7-12. Some previous coding experience is necessary to understand coding syntax.Coding is becoming a major skill needed in any field. This skill is one of the foundations of STEM careers for the next generation. This course is designed to inspire your child to pursue STEM academics and is their first step toward a future STEM career in programming or computer engineering.Students will learn basic programming principles with Java. Hands-on exercises encourage students to think like a coder and develop important logic and problem-solving skills.Students will learn all pertinent programming basics to gain the ability to start programming an FRC Robot.<h2>Class Schedule</h2>Every Monday, there are two sessions available at 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 8:30 PMClass Start date = 10/04 and End date = 11/29The program will be delivered in person at 2102 Cambridge Beltway Drive.All student requires to have his/her computer to participate in the class. Hardware assistance is availablePossession of a Windows based PC will be necessary for this class. If you do not have one you can obtain one through <a href="https://www.e-2-d.org/get-a-laptop" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">e-2-d.org</a>.

Agenda

Week 1 : Overview and Intro

Installing, learning how to create projects, and deploying them.

Week 2-3: WPILib

Understand driver station, Rio Firmware, radio programming, and Phoenix Dashboard to control the robot.

Week 4 - 5: FRC Game Tools

Learn commands and subsystems to develop individual programs.

Week 6 - 8: Command Based Robot
