Mass Poetry supports poets and poetry in Massachusetts. We help to broaden the audience of poetry readers, bring poetry to readers of all ages, and transform people’s lives through inspiring verse. We are a 501(c)(3) organization.

Mass Poetry

Mass Poetry's bimonthly reading series returns (virtually) on January 24th, featuring local poets under 35.

We'll be featuring four very talented young poets on January 24th at our virtual event.Mariya (Masha) Deykute is a Russian-American poet, editor, and translator. She is a graduate of the UMass: Boston MFA program and currently teaches rhetoric and creative writing in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan. She is the co-founder and chief editor of the trilingual journal Angime. Her work in English has most recently appeared in PANK, notokens, Write in the Dot, and Seventh Wave. Her work in Russian has most recently appeared in Daktil and Literranova: an anthology of Almaty writing. Mostly, she writes about the wilderness that exists inside and alongside all of us.Mckendy Fils-Aimé is a New England based poet, educator, and footwear enthusiast. He has been fortunate enough to share his work on stages all across the United States. His poetry has appeared in The Collagist, The Journal, Boxcar Poetry Review, and elsewhere.Angelo Mao is a research scientist and writer. He earned his Ph.D. in bioengineering from Harvard University, and his research publications have appeared in Science, Nature Biotechnology, and elsewhere. His first book of poetry, Abattoir (Burnside Review Press, 2021), won the Burnside Review Press Book Award. His poems have appeared in Poetry Magazine, The Georgia Review, Lana Turner, and elsewhere. He has also written for Opera News and Boston Classical Review. He was born in California and lives in Massachusetts.Fatima Jafar is a Pakistani poet living in Boston, where she is an MFA Poetry candidate at Emerson College. She is a Poetry Reader for Muzzle Magazine and is the co-creator of the South Asian literary platform DHOOP Journal (www.dhoopjournal.com). Her work has been published in The Sandy River Review, The Shore, Anti-Heroin Chic Mag, The Pinch and more. Her new chapbook, 'Being There', was just published with Bottlecap Press.
