Admiral Maltings is thrilled to announce the inaugural It's The Malt! - Craft Malt/Beer Festival, on Saturday, June 29th, at The Rake, their renowned malt house pub and beer garden located in Alameda, CA. Beer is Barley! This festival celebrates the artistry and tradition of floor malting barley while highlighting the vibrant community of farmers, local brewers, distillers, musicians, and the Rake’s BBQ food program.
It's The Malt! promises attendees an unforgettable experience, featuring an array of activities and offerings:
- Local Craft Beer Showcase: Enjoy a diverse selection of craft beers brewed by over twenty of California’s finest breweries, all made with California-grown, floor malted barley, freshly kilned and sourced from local family farms.
- Historic International Floor Malting Collaboration: Don't miss the chance to taste exclusive beers crafted with heritage Haná barley, a result of the historic floor malting collaboration between Crisp Maltings (UK) and Admiral Maltings (USA).
- Live Music: Groove to the sounds of local musicians as they provide the perfect backdrop to a day of festivities.
- Brewing Demonstration: Our local home brewing club, The Bay Area Mashers, will be answering questions and hosting a live brewing demonstration using Admiral's California grown floor malt.
- BBQ & Burger Extravaganza: Indulge in mouthwatering BBQ pulled pork, smoked hot links, Oklahoma smash burgers, vegan brats, and savory sides, expertly prepared to complement the flavorful brews. Mains: $10; Savory Sides: $5
- Craft Whiskey Tasting: Sample artisanal whiskies from craft distillers, showcasing the unique character imparted by Admiral's artisan floor malt. Price $20.
- VIP Experience: Elevate your festival experience with early access, a selection of craft whiskies, and food tickets included. Price: $75

Frequently asked questions
The Rake is indeed family friendly, including four legged family members. This event, however, will be busier than a norma day at the pub so we recommend you keep non-service animals at home during the festival. Kids are welcome as long as they stay close to your party
Yes! Our kitchen staff are providing Beyond Meat vegan brats as an option for our vegan customers. We will also have vegan and vegetarian friendly side dishes available.
We might make the malt that goes in the beer but we want everyone to be welcome! Ask our staff about our cider and wine options.
Of course! We will have sodas, apple juice, iced coffee, and non alcoholic beer options available inside at the bar.
Yes! Our entire pub including the bathroom is wheelchair accessible. If you have any special requests any of our staff would be happy to help.
There is a variety of free street parking throughout Spirits Alley / Alameda Point. We suggest you not leave any valuables in plain sight inside your vehicle.
