We’ve learned many important lessons over the years. After working with more than 1,000 clients, we know that most organizations lack a functional incident management capability. Either they have a dysfunctional plan, or they have no plan at all. 
There is no excuse in today’s world for not having a functional incident management capability. The information security industry (the herd) is maturing, making the lack of a plan less defensible (legally). The number and sophistication of threats is constantly increasing, so a breach is (eventually) inevitable. When the time comes, it’s up to you, panic or plan?
In this workshop we’ll cover real-world (and common) incident experiences together, validating what we already know; an incident management/response plan is a vital part of all information security programs. Knowing we need a plan is one thing, building and implementing one are different things. Together we’ll build a simple, and (very) effective plan, then discuss the steps to make it operational in any environment.

Attendees who need an incident management plan will come away from the workshop with an incident management plan, or at least the start of one.

Evan has extensive experience designing solutions for complex information security problems. He is well-versed in governmental and industry-specific f rameworks, regulations, standards and guidelines including NIST CSF, ISO/IEC 27000, FISMA, HIPAA, GLBA, PCI-DSS, FDA CFR Part 11, SOX and COBIT. He is the chief designer of FISASCORE®, the definitive measurement of information security risk used by more than 500 companies in the United States.
Evan has presented at hundreds of information security conferences and workshops, has written more than 700 articles, and has been featured in dozens of television and radio interviews with noted organizations such as NBC, USA Today, and CBS Radio.
