For some, it was less than 9 months, for others, it was longer. Some started under $70k, some started higher.But, I don’t think you’re “most people,” because if you’re reading this far, then that means you’re serious, you’ve been thinking A LOT about this coding / career thing…or you just might be desperate Good.Now you also might be thinking, “How in-demand are coding jobs, really, do I have a chance?”Good question.According to [this study](https://www.zippia.com/advice/tech-industry-statistics/), there are almost 4 million open tech jobs in the U.S., right now.Despite changes in the economy, [the tech industry is growing](https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-2022-tech-wreck-is-not-the-same-as-the-dot-com-bust-but-investors-will-still-want-to-change-their-game-11654360806).And…“We’ve run out of ways to describe how much the demand for software engineers is increasing.” —Hired.com’s 2022 State of Software Engineers ReportIf there’s ever a time to break into tech, &quot;it’s now.&quot;But the biggest question to ask yourself…“Is becoming a web developer to pursue a job in tech right for me?&quot;To answer that question, you have to ask yourself two more questions:1. *“Do I have a taste for coding and web development?”*2. *“Is it even feasible with my current job, family, and/or life obligations?”*<h1>Get A Free Taste Of A Coding Workshop</h1>You might already know you have a taste for coding, but in case you don’t, question #1 is the easiest to answer. If you were to head over to YouTube right now, you could do a quick search for *beginner coding tutorials* and spend an hour learning a topic and then decide if it’s something you want to pursue.BUT, the better way is to start learning at a coding workshop with others. Why?Have you ever had a chili cook-off, a pie baking contest, or if you’re more of the bougie type, gone to a coffee or wine tasting?Which chili, pie, coffee, or wine is the best? Some people are going to pick up tasting notes that you didn’t, and vice versa. If it’s a contest, they’ll tell you what ingredients they used and how they mixed it together (if they’re willing to share their secrets of course).It’s the same with coding, but there’s one BIG difference. Coders are passionate about helping others and sharing their knowledge. When you learn in a group, you discover the tools, strategies, and approaches (“ingredients”) others are using in their coding journey. And when you get stuck, someone else is there to help you because they picked up on a subtle note you might have missed. And when someone else gets stuck, you’ll discover the satisfaction of helping them.Also, maybe you’re the type that’s never liked chili, but it turns out, someone actually made a chili you liked. You’d had never known by yourself. (I’m not talking about chili).So, if you’re serious about figuring out if learning to code is right for you, come to my free workshop to get a taste of the feast to come.Is Learning To Code To Land A Job In Tech Even Feasible With My Current Job, Family, And/Or Life Obligations?Going back to school, dedicating 4 years of your life to learning, and spending $20,000, $30,000 or more on college tuition is probably out of the question. Not only that, it requires you to put your life, job, and everything else on hold. You might not have that luxury.Maybe you’ve heard of coding bootcamps where you can spend a few months learning only the skills needed for web development.That’s better.However, they also can cost $10,000, $15,000, or more, many of them are also full time, which means you still have to quit your job. And if you find a flexible, online bootcamp (that still costs $10,000), who knows if you’ll be thrown into a class where there’s no room to get the help you need when there’s 99 other students in the same class. Is that really worth it?The third option is to teach yourself for free online. Some have made this work, but those are even more special cases.
