About this event

We are excited to gather Iroquois Valley's staff, board, farmers, and investors for an afternoon of walking farm tours, followed by an optional farm dinner at Locavore Farm.

The afternoon will begin at 1:00pm CT at Rock Creek Farm in Peotone, IL. Rock Creek is Iroquois Valley's agroforestry demonstration campus, with an 8,000-tree windbreak planted in 2020. The tour at Rock Creek will include light refreshments of local farm products. Adequate parking is available.

Following Rock Creek, attendees will take a short ride by bus to Tulip Tree Gardens in Beecher, IL. Tulip Tree Gardens is a new addition to our portfolio this spring. Rachael and Jesse Smedberg, the owners and operators, manage a diversified farm of vegetables, medicinal plants, and flowers, in addition to a small herd of livestock on pasture.

After touring Tulip Tree Gardens, attendees have the option to continue to Locavore Farm and attend their Saturday evening "Dine on the Land" event. Locavore Farm's "Dine on the Land" event is a four-hour dining experience that includes a farm tour, live music, and four-course meal of freshly-harvested, locally-sourced meats and vegetables (vegetarian/vegan options available). The dinner is $100 per person, and tickets can be purchased directly through this Eventbrite listing. For more about Locavore Farm's event, check out this recent news feature from ABC News.

If attendees are not able to attend the farm dinner, they will be transported back to Rock Creek Farm by bus.

Please prepare to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a mask, sun protection, and water. Note that the weather may vary throughout the event. It is likely to be hot and windy during the farm tours and cooler in the evening at the dinner. We suggest that you consult the local forecast the day before the event. Dress for the dinner is casual or not – your choice, but please dress comfortably.

The event will be held rain or shine. For the safety of our staff and guests, masks will be required on the bus. Hand sanitizer will be provided.
