You&#x27;re not going to want to miss this inaugural Ruby Music Salon; an evening of drinks, friends, and live performances. This intimate concert will feature Ruby alum, Ellie Barber (Ollella), a finalist for the <a href="https://www.wunc.org/2022-04-25/entries-we-love-ollella-lava" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NPR Tiny Desk Contest</a> for her song &#x27;Lava,&#x27; and Ruby member, Claire Calderón with her band, <a href="https://corazamusica.bandcamp.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Coraza</a>.Happy hour for members starts at 5:30. Doors open for the show at 6. Performance starts at 6:30. Please RSVP! Non-member vaccination cards checked at the door and masks strongly encouraged! Note: Our exact address is not listed publicly. About OllellaOllella’s career as a musician started early, when she sang before she could talk. Trained as a classical cellist since the age of nine, the Seattle indie-folk musician merges her technical background with authoritative vocals, live-looping, and improvisation. Described as “really outstanding” by NPR Music’s Bob Boilen and “so tastefully done” by Michelle Zauner (Japanese Breakfast), <a href="https://ollellamusic.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ollella</a> blends the acoustic with the contemporary, folk with pop, and tenacity with softness, pulling on influences such as Feist, Cat Power, and Jesca Hoop. Her playing has been featured in films screened at Film Festivals such as Sundance and Aspen Film Fest, on recordings with others including Grammy-winning artist Peter Kater, and has shared the stage with popular Americana acts such as the Shook Twins and Rising Appalachia. She finds herself drawn to music because it unlocks a particularly organic flavor of humanity – one that fits the type of world she believes in. Follow her at @ollellamusic

About CorazaCoraza is a feminist indie folk-pop group based in Oakland, California. With roots in Chile, Guam, Mexico, and the Philippines, Coraza’s sound is a unique fusion of experimental and traditional; nostalgic and provocative, combining elements of South American folkloric style (à la Violeta Parra and Mercedes Sosa) with catchy contemporary rhythms, bilingual lyrics, electric distortions, and delicious harmonies. They released their debut single, 'Like Blood' last spring and are at work on a full-length album.
