​Fáilte! Come along and discover the Irish language in a relaxed, welcoming environment at the Celtic Club.

​Our Beginner Irish Language Classes are open to Celtic Club members of all ages, whether you're completely new to Irish or simply keen to reconnect with the language.

​Over the 10-week term, you'll learn the foundations of Gaeilge, including everyday words and phrases, pronunciation, greetings and conversational basics, while gaining a greater understanding of the language.

​Meet your teacher

​Katie originally from County Wexford, developed a deep passion for Gaeilge through years of attending and eventually teaching at Irish language summer courses in Connemara. After earning her Masters of Education in Home Economics and Irish, she moved to Connemara full-time to live and work as a Home Economics and Irish secondary school teacher, teaching through the medium of Irish. It is here that Katie began to teach Irish to adults in the evenings.

​Now based in Melbourne since February 2026, Katie co-founded Gaeilge in Melbourne, a vibrant community group hosting monthly Pop-Up Gaeltachts, quizzes, and coffee mornings. Driven by her love for education, she is excited to return to teaching and help adults in Melbourne connect with and master the Irish language

• ​Beginner-friendly - no previous Irish language experience required
• ​Open to all ages
• ​1-hour class every Saturday
• ​All learning materials provided
• ​A relaxed and welcoming learning environment

​📅 TERM DATES

​Saturday 3 October – Saturday 5 December

​Classes will run in line with the Victorian school semester calendar, with future terms following the same structure.
