Description

iPad Basics for Librarians with Tour of iOS 12 (one-day workshop for library and literacy staff and volunteers)

This hands-on class will introduce Apple iPads for library use. Learn the basics of using an iPad, and find out the latest operating system changes in iOS 12, released this fall. Discover a variety of apps, and explore ways libraries can integrate iPads into their services. You’ll leave class with a list of basic iPad skills, a slide show, and activities that you can use to teach iPad skills at your library. This class is built for 2018 Edge grantees who received iPads as part of their grant but is also open to any library or literacy staff. Bring your own iPad updated with iOS 12, and bring your Apple ID and password. We will not cover Android tablets in this class, only Apple iPads.

Prerequisites: None

Requirements: You must bring your own iPad—we will not have ODL iPads for you to use. The iPad must be updated to iOS 12. If the iPad requires a passcode to unlock, make sure you know the passcode. You must bring your Apple ID and password.

Amy Brandley, ODL trainer, Edge consultant, and former library director, will teach the class.

Travel stipend for overnight stay may be available if public library, library system, tribal library or literacy organization is 60 miles or more from ODL.

Initial travel stipend paperwork must be returned to ODL before the class date. Contact Doris Dixon to request paperwork via email Doris.Dixon@libraries.ok.gov or phone (405) 522-3217.

Stipend will be based on lodging receipt, up to $92. If lodging charges are less than $92, the contract will be written for the actual amount, not $92. Mileage also may be reimbursed at 30 cents/mile if you are paying for your own gas & cannot collect from your library/literacy organization.

Stipend contracts will be made out to the library/literacy organization. It will be your responsibility to collect your reimbursement from that organization. No travel stipend contracts will be paid until the class has been attended and photocopied proof of overnight stay (if applicable) has been submitted to the Office of Library Development.
