Join us for an intellectual property (IP) workshop to find out how to develop your business's IP strategy and what this looks like for you.

In this workshop, Partners Andrew White and Posy Drywood, as well as Technical Assistant Jessie Harrison, will discuss top tips for a successful IP strategy. As part of the workshop, they will also explore a few key issues surrounding IP, including its ownership, joint development work, as well as a comparison between a patent and a trade secret, along with an explanation of which is more suitable when. This event is suitable for all businesses, but in particular those who:
<ul><li>are looking to raise external investment;</li><li>are unsure how to identify their own IP; </li><li>are working with or looking to work with third parties; and</li><li>are unsure of the best strategy to protect the value and IP created by their business.

In particular, Andrew is keen to explain to clients how developing an effective IP strategy can add value to a business – whether that be through securing supply deals with third parties, helping to secure investment or driving up value of the business for due diligence and exit.Posy Drywood - Partner, UK &amp; European Patent AttorneyPosy is a patent attorney in the chemistry group at Mathys &amp; Squire. She is particularly familiar with inventions in the fields of batteries, green technology, pharmaceuticals, and oil and gas. She enjoys a close and collaborative relationship with her clients, who range from large multinational companies to SMEs and universities, and believes that a deep understanding of a client’s technology is essential when helping them to develop and implement an IP strategy. Posy has worked with many companies on their journey from startups to established businesses, for instance by developing a considered and balanced patent portfolio, advising on freedom to operate, and helping with licensing and agreements. Jessie Harrison - Technical Assistant Jessie is a technical assistant in Mathys &amp; Squire’s IT &amp; engineering team and holds a first class degree in MEng materials science &amp; engineering. In particular, she has experience working with cases relating to medical devices, and IT and telecoms. Jessie also takes particular interest in engaging with the UK’s startup and scaleup community. She has been involved in providing intellectual property (IP) strategy advice and support for a number of startup accelerators and incubators, discussing all aspects of IP including registered designs, agreements and licencing, as well as patents.
