Join us to learn about the Lemelson-MIT Program's InvenTeam™ grant initiative and how to apply for the 2018-2019 school year. InvenTeams are comprised of high school students, educators, and mentors that receive up to $10,000 each to invent technological solutions to real-world problems of their own choosing.

Speaker Detailed Overview:

Mark Westlake: Innovation Center Director at Saint Thomas Academy

Mark Westlake is the Innovation Center Director at Saint Thomas Academy (Mendota Heights, Minn.), a former InvenTeam grantee in 2008, and a Lemelson-MIT Master Teacher. Mark's InvenTeam invented a safer electric motorcycle. He continues to moderate the school’s Experimental Vehicle Team which has won competitions worldwide.


Tony Perry: Invention Education Coordinator for the Lemelson-MIT Program.

Tony Perry, the Invention Education Coordinator at the Lemelson-MIT Program, oversees the day-to-day operations of the InvenTeam initiative. Tony previously taught science in Chicago, Ill. He’s an avid maker and takes pride in helping InvenTeams be successful designing and building their inventions.
