ABOUT THIS CLASS

This introductory course will cover the essentials of Unity for 3D application development through the lens of augmented reality. Students will learn how to create 3D models and animate in Unity by developing their own interactive augmented reality applications. They will use either their own original artwork or markers in public space as triggers for a wide variety of effects to appear on their devices and learn how to deploy their applications for site-specific or widespread use.

Unity is a versatile and free tool for 3D development used for applications from game design to virtual reality. This platform is accessible for artists and programmers to make advanced graphics quickly with only small amounts of simple code. Augmented reality is a rapidly growing field with untapped possibilities and this course will offer artists the opportunity to engage with space, objects, and their viewers in an entirely new way.
