Introduction to the Creative Wellbeing Approach

Creative Wellbeing integrates arts and mental health strategies to support social-emotional development and healing from trauma. The Creative Wellbeing approach is a strategic collaboration between the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, Office of Child Protection, Department of Mental Health, and the Arts for Healing and Justice Network.

Please join us on Wednesday, June 22, from 1:00-2:30 PM and learn about:

• How County partners, schools, artists and youth are co-developing the approach

• Foundational concepts informing the approach

• A new curriculum guide to support practitioners

• Tangible examples of how arts and mental health can support youth and adults

• How Creative Wellbeing can support you!

The session will be facilitated by the Arts for Healing & Justice Network (AHJN) and will feature presenters from the LA County Department of Arts & Culture, Mental Health, Office of Child Protection and AHJN member teaching artists.

More about Creative Wellbeing

Creative Wellbeing provides culturally relevant, healing-centered arts education that builds mental health protective factors for youth impacted by LA County's child welfare system. Arts-based, healing-centered services are also provided to adults who support these young people (i.e. from caregivers, to educators, clinicians, to CBOs) so that they are better equipped to provide a healing and supportive environment for the youth in their care. The goal of this work is to make systemic change toward healing-centered arts engagement. The approach is being implemented at school sites, congregate care facilities, online for caregivers and providers, within County departments, and as part of the Los Angeles County Suicide Prevention Network.
