Team-Based Learning Orientation – Transfer your class into a place of engagement and excitement!

This workshop has been designed to provide you with an overview of team-based learning teaching methodology, its origin, and how it works. You will learn the components of the team-based learning process and how each activity helps students deepen their learning retention as they apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world application. You will explore the advantages of team-based learning for different stakeholders. You will experience technologies and resources that can help you deliver team-based learning for your face-to-face and online classes effectively.

Who this is for:

1. Educators, instructional designers who are considering transforming their traditional lectures into flipped classroom modules and are considering using a team-based learning approach

2. For administrators and IT personnel looking for pedagogical solutions to make large classes more engaging and fun in an online environment

1. Identify the key elements of team-based learning

2. State advantages of team-based learning approach in face-to-face, online, and hybrid setting

3. Learn about the resources and technologies that can help you implement TBL and continue your professional journey in the area of TBL

Tom Jansen

Tom Jansen has trained staffs and volunteers for Boy Scouts of America (BSA) since 1982, serving BSA councils and National BSA in corporate training, strategic planning, and IT communications. Tom has earned the CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development) from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) Certification Institute. He volunteers on the Finance, Marketing, and Membership committees of the Team-Based Learning Collaborative (TBLC).
