Introduction to Tablet Weaving

The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. was created in 1948 as a non-profit educational organization to promote interest in handweaving. Today, the Guild offers education in a wide range of fiber processes and techniques, including weaving, felting, spinning, basketry, knitting, and dyeing. Guild members are from the Cincinnati metropolitan area and surrounding communities, as well as from Kentucky and Indiana.Members range in experience from beginners to professionals. All benefit from the Guild's priorities: education through classes, workshops, programs, study groups; sharing information and fiber techniques with other members and community groups; and promoting and supporting local fiber producers and businesses.After 50 years of meeting in various churches throughout Greater Cincinnati, the Guild has its own home at 4870 Gray Road in Spring Grove Village.

<h1>Introduction to Tablet Weaving</h1><h3>Wednesday, September 27, 2023 and Thursday, September 28, 2023, </h3><h3>6:00 pm - 9:00pm</h3><h3>Instructor: Janie Yates</h3><p><strong>$70   for the class</strong></p><p><strong>Class limit: 6</strong></p><p><strong>Materials Fee: $15.00, payable to instructor </strong></p><p><strong>Skill level:  Beginner.  No weaving experience needed. </strong></p><p></p><p>Tablet weaving is a centuries old technique of weaving sturdy narrow bands with a multitude of uses. There are several ways to create patterns with this technique. In this introductory class, students will learn one of the simplest techniques – threaded in pattern. We will cover the basics of reading a pattern draft, measuring a warp, threading the cards, starting and ending wefts, and managing selvedges. This is an introductory class and no weaving experience is required.</p><p></p><p>Supplies to Bring:</p><ul><li>Students should bring scissors and note-taking materials.</li><li>Students may want to bring a beverage and a snack.</li></ul><p>Problems registering? If so, you will be notified before the first class.</p><p><em>Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.</em></p>
