Open Screen Forum Workshop: Introduction to Steadicam

PF Upstairs Gallery #247

Sunday May 11 from 12pm-1:30pm

Class Limit: 10 people. Space is limited RSVP early to reserve your space in the workshop.

This workshop offers an introduction to Steadicam, covering what it is, why it's used, and how to work with it effectively on set. Participants will get familiar with the components of a Steadicam rig, including vest fit, arm tuning, and sled balancing. The session includes a demonstration of core operating techniques, guidance on proper set etiquette for working with or as a Steadicam operator, and hands-on practice using a stationary (hard-mounted) setup. Whether you're curious about operating or just want to better understand the tool, the workshop also points you toward resources and training for next steps.

The workshop is facilitated by Nolan Regan Morice. Nolan is one of the founders of Line Break Media, a mission-driven production company based in the Twin Cities that crafts stories into powerful instruments for change. On set, he is most often the director of photography and/or Steadicam operator. He also operates a local equipment rental house, Midcity Production Supply.
