Are you curious about Shochu? Join us to learn the basics of this delicious and unique 500+ year old Japanese Spirit, how to differentiate between styles, and how to serve Shochu to its best advantage and use it in delicious craft cocktails. We'll also explore the nuance of Shochu vs Sake and Soju! The course includes a guided tour of Brooklyn Kura's sake brewery (through the lens of shochu making), a flight of 5 different shochus served in a variety of styles, and a few snacks to accompany the tasting.


What's included:

-Shochu 101 presentation to walk you through the fundamentals of the Japanese spirit

-A guided tasting of 4 different Japanese Shochus, as well as Brooklyn Kura's house-made Shochu

-A Handout/notes section for reference at home

-Snacks to accompany the spirit tasting

-A 10% discount for purchasing bottles at Brooklyn Kura or select bottles at Kuraichi



About your Instructor

Kyle Davis was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has been bartending since 2011 and working in the world of sake and shochu since 2021. Besides running the beverage program at Brooklyn Kura, they are a drag performer, horror enthusiast, and have had their cocktails and articles featured in Wine Enthusiast, Cheers Magazine, Time Out New York, and the Japan Sake & Shochu Makers Association Blog.
