We will be coding together!</strong></p><p>Python is both easy to learn and powerful! Python can be used to build websites, analyze complex data, create world-class machine learning algorithms, and even develop games. Python skills are in high demand across a wide variety of industries.</p><p>This meetup targets those with little to no programming experience.</p><p>Everyone attending will receive a free digital copy of my (<a href="https://twitter.com/TedPetrou" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Teddy Petrou</a>) book, <a href="https://www.dunderdata.com/master-the-fundamentals-of-python" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Master the Fundamentals of Python</a>. This is a comprehensive text with 300+ pages, 25+ hours of video lessons, exercises, projects, and a certification exam.</p><p><strong>Y﻿ou MUST show proof of your Eventbrite ticket when entering The ION.</strong></p><p>We will cover the following topics:</p><ul><li>G﻿etting started with Jupyter Notebooks</li><li>Using Python as a calculator</li><li>Objects and their types</li><li>Strings</li><li>Lists</li><li>Control Flow</li><li>Functions</li><li>Data structures (tuples, sets, and dictionaries)</li></ul><h3>Accessing the material (easy method)</h3><p>The easiest way to access the material is to navigate to <a href="https://colab.research.google.com/github/tdpetrou/Python-Tutorials/blob/master/Introduction%20to%20Python%202023%20-%20Houston%20Data%20Science.ipynb" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">this Google Colab Notebook</a>. You must have a Google account to access.</p><h3>Accessing the material on your own machine (more challenging)</h3><ol><li>Install the Anaconda Distribution with Python 3 on your own machine BEFORE the meetup begins. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVyhfExBT1XC-5ls9DezJIqioVYhf-09t" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Check the Dunder Data YouTube channel</a> for a video walkthrough.</li><li>Navigate to <a href="https://github.com/tdpetrou/Python-Tutorials" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">this GitHub repository</a> and click the green CODE button.
