Introduction to Programming with Imagination Toolbox 2015

MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program

In this fun, intensive, hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to program 3D games and/or science simulation models using StarLogo Nova, an online educational software tool with a graphical programming interface. If you have never programmed before, this workshop will be a great introduction. For people with prior programming experience, this workshop will provide you with experience in an easy-to-use, powerful programming tool to add to your repertoire.

Time: 9am-3pm
Cost: $30 per person - covers breakfast, lunch, and all materials. Parking is available for an additional $25.
* Family Edition - parents/teachers may bring their middle school age and older children/students, and mature high school students can register on their own. Family Edition is also open to general attendees. 
All sessions provide identical material, but a beginner can easily take 2 or 3 sessions without repeating anything due to the facilitated, self-paced structure of the workshop. There is a minimum of 6 participants to hold a workshop. If you'd like us to run a session at your school that isn't scheduled here, please contact us.

Eligibility Requirements:

<LI>Educator, parent, hobbyist, or researcher.</LI>
<LI>Middle school age and older kids/students welcome to register with their parents/teachers.</LI>
<LI>Some computer knowledge - browsing the Web, saving files, and switching between different programs</LI>
<LI>No prior programming experience required (but experienced programmers are also welcome).</LI>

Registration
The workshop is open-admission, however, advanced sign-up is required. The $30 per-person registration fee covers breakfast, lunch, and all of the workshop materials. The best way to get to MIT is via public transportation. If you require parking, we can purchase a parking pass for you for an additional $25, cheaper than nearby parking garages.
Please bring a laptop with Chrome already installed on it. If you do not have a laptop capable of running the software, say so on the registration form; we will have a limited number of loaner laptops available for the workshop.
