About this event

  • 2 hours

When there is no surf what do you do to enjoy time in the ocean? Have you ever thought of trying outrigger canoe paddling like the Polynesian explorers did when they discovered Hawaii? Parents, you can do this with your kids!

SBBC is once again collaborating with Lanakila Outrigger Canoe Club to introduce Polynesian style outrigger canoe paddling to groms and adults in 6-person canoes. This is another really fun sport to enjoy in the ocean and it's a great workout! On this day you will be taught paddling technique and cruise around inside King Harbor in a 6-person canoe, and possibly outside on the open ocean, if conditions allow.

Our friends at Waterman's will be providing poke and Kalua Pork Sliders for lunch after the paddling session so you can eat and talk story afterwards. This is a FREE event for SBBC members, and non-members pay $20 (lunch included).

Event Location: King Harbor, 280 Marina Way, Redondo Beach

Location Description: Drive through to the West end of Marina Way in the parking lot and you will see outrigger canoes south of the parking lot near the Harbor Patrol station.
