Event description

Description

Abstract: Data visualization allows researchers to explore data and exhibit data in ways to help tell a story about data. This workshop will give a brief introduction to a specific, but very powerful and popular machinery – Data Driven Documents (D3) which is a powerful JavaScript library and is well documented online. D3 is a javaScript library that is used to create interactive visualization in the browser. Browser-based or online visualization, in general, has been proven as an excellent and engaging medium for illustrating the stories behind big data, and for effectively communicating complex messages to viewers. This workshop will introduce the fundamentals of D3 from the very basic level and up, how to conceptually design, creating a webpage, adding elements to insert data to those elements through illustrative examples, to showcase what users can do with D3 to create basic plots and graphics.
Objectives:

  • Introduction to basic concepts of data visualization

  • Learn how to use D3.js library

  • Hands-on examples of data visualization tools using D3

Level: Introductory
Duration: 2 hours
