Are you fascinated by the history of your local archaeological sites? Join our free introduction to Archives Workshop to discover the background, documentary sources and other historical information of the lower Tweed area with Linda Bankier of Berwick Library. This workshop is based around the TillVAS project investigating the history and background of St Cuthberts Chapel, however the skills you will learn can be applied to any archaeological or historical site or project. This workshop is a collaboration between TillVAS, Uncovering the Tweed and the Berwick Library and Archive.What You'll Gain:<ul><li>Discover how to use the Berwick archives to research your site/period of interest.</li><li>Discover key elements linked to the lower Tweed region.</li><li>Get hands-on experience with essential online tools, maps, estate plans, and historical records.</li><li>Develop the skills to conduct your own research and interpretation.</li></ul>Workshop Highlights:<ul><li>Examine the resources through the case study of St Cuthberts chapel which links to a practical example from the TillVAS project and Uncovering the Tweed themes.</li><li>Activities including map searches, resource exploration and discussion with Linda Bankier.</li></ul>Whether you’re part of TILLVAS or the Uncovering the Tweed project or just passionate about local history, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to explore the rich tapestry of historical resources in the lower Tweed area.This project is part of Destination Tweed, and is made possible by funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund Scotland, Fallago Environment Fund and other funders.Accessibility: The venue at Berwick Library is wheelchair accessible with lifts to the first floor where required. Accessible facilities are located on the ground floor and can be accessed by speaking to the on-site staff.
