About this event

This 4-week interactive series is designed for folks 55+ who are new to the art of theater acting. Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of acting, including warm-ups, script analysis, and character study.

There will be opportunities to both practice and “perform” assigned scenes with a supportive group of peers, and to receive gentle feedback from the program facilitator.

All registrants will be provided a pdf copy of the play “Doubt” by John Patrick Shanley prior to the first session and are strongly encouraged (however not required) to read it ahead of time.

No experience necessary. All individuals 55+ are welcome to join!

Note: Participants must have their zoom cameras ON to take part in this interactive series

Join us Mondays, May 6, 13 & 20, and June 3 at 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. CT. Just sign up once to receive a reminder and Zoom link every week!

Note that we will not meet on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

Join our Facebook group to connect with us and other participants, and to share your thoughts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mathercreativeprograms

You will receive a confirmation email that includes the Zoom link for your program, and the reminder emails each week will also contain the Zoom link.

If this is your first time accessing Zoom, or if you need a refresher, we’ve put together a few resources from around the web that should help!

  • Here is a guide on the basics from Zoom: https://youtu.be/pAMDxH_H_Cs
  • If you are using your phone or a tablet, the easiest way to access Zoom is by downloading the Zoom app, as shown here: https://youtu.be/0NBARnBxk-Y (Note that while this video shows an iPhone, other phones will have a similar process. The “App Store” for Android phones is called the “Play Store” or “Google Play Store.”)
