About this event

Learn how to use a jointer, planer, table saw, miter saw, drill press, and band saw with precision and safe handling techniques. In this 4-hour class you will gain hands-on experience with each of our woodshop machines as the instructor guides you through the process of turning a raw piece of lumber into a retail grade "cut board."

About the instructors:

Eric Dunder inherited the heart of an artist and the mind of an engineer, and finds woodworking the perfect outlet for his ambitions. He has worked as a cabinetmaker for M.R. Brewer Fine Woodworking in Portland since 2018, after completing the highly selective Furniture Comprehensive Program at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport. A native of Oregon, Eric previously studied commercial aviation, photography, and environmental studies. His cabinetry has appeared in articles in Décor Maine and Maine Homes by Down East.

Marrion Ladd brings her Maine farm kid ingenuity and curiosity to situations. "Mack" began her trade career in 2015 doing historic window restoration, and has worked on the Olson House, the Lincoln Theater, and currently the historic leaded glass at the Damariscotta Baptist Church. Since 2021, she works as a cabinetmaker at The Kennebec Company and partners with White Chapel Joinery for glass work. She specializes in fine woodworking, finish work, leaded glass, and is a reluctant mechanic.

Mack hopes to teach those who haven't felt supported in shop spaces before, so they can have the confidence and knowledge to think about projects in new and interesting ways.
