Welcome to Intro to Watercolor | Learn to Paint Irises!

Come join us for a fun and relaxing afternoon at Oakstone Winery to learn the beautiful art of watercolor painting. This in-person 2-hour course is perfect for beginners who want to learn the basics of watercolor painting, but is also beneficial to those with some art background.

As a science illustrator, I'll go over the basics of outlining and sketching the form of the subject (in this case, an iris!), recognizing light and shadow areas, using color theory, and how to perform basic watercolor techniques and washes.

Do I need to bring any supplies?

I will provide all the materials you need! Just bring yourself.

I'm a complete beginner to drawing and painting. Is this class suitable for me?

Yes! We will practice basic drawing and painting techniques. However, if you do have some drawing and painting experience, that's great too!

Will everyone end up with an identical painting at the end?

No! We will be painting irises from life, meaning that the subject that's in front of us. While this is a guided group class, individuals have artistic freedom.

Is this event for all ages?

While young artists are welcome, we encourage guests to be 21 and older at this venue since alcohol will be served.
