Learn how to use the Conrad Monotype Press in Artisans Asylum's Printmaking Studio!

Class Description

Whether you are a first time printmaker or a seasoned professional artist, this class will get your set up with everything you need to know about how to use the Conrad Monoytpe Press in Artisans Asylum Printmaking Studio. This class acts as a "tool test" and afterwards students may use this press independently. In this class you will learn the fundamentals of printmaking through color mixing and inking while learning about proper technical use of inks and mixing mediums. You will learn about ink transparency, viscosity. We will discuss your goals for the type of prints you are interested in making in our space. You will learn how to correctly and safely operate the press, including setting pressure, blanket use and cleaning. You will also go home with several colorful monoprints of your own. This engaging and informative class will prepare you with all you need to get started printing while having fun and embracing experimentation.

*This class includes Tool Testing on the following tools:

Conrad Monotype Press in the Artisans Asylum Printmaking Studio

The materials fee for this class is $25. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Venmo.

Learning Objectives

  • Students will learn how to operate the Conrad Monotype Press including setting pressure, blanket use and cleaning.
  • Students will learn the color and viscosity mixing with Akua Inks
  • Students will learn three monoprint techniques
  • Students will come away with a greater understanding of printmaking and press operation and make multiple monoprints of their own.

Instructor - Brooke Lambert @brookelambertartist

Brooke is a professional printmaker and painter. She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and shows her work widely in New England, New York, and beyond. Brooke works in Studio 291 at Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell, MA. She is currently represented by The Society of American Graphic Artists and Equity Gallery in New York, NY and Galaray House, contemporary art gallery in Lexington, MA. She has thirteen years of teaching experience and currently teaches adult art workshops and holds artist demos at several locations in New England.

Target Audience

Students must be 18 years or older.

Your Ticket Includes

  • Multiple Monoprints to take home
  • Access to A2's Screen Printing Shop and tools for the duration of the session.

Class Policies

Attire: Attendants should wear their favorite paint outfit (clothes you dont mind getting dirty)
