Intro to MIG Welding

By The Inventor Center

Overview

MIG or wire feed welding is a great place to start your welding journey!

Students will learn the basics of MIG/wire feed welding and using a hand-held plasma cutter, practice both, and then create a unique piece of their own! We will also have the option of welding a simple bird should you choose to use the outline provided rather than creating your own.

Please wear all natural fibers (like cotton; we recommend jeans and a t-shirt/sweatshirt) close-toed shoes, full length pants, and no loose/dangly garments or jewelry. We recommend bringing a natural fiber jacket in case you get chilly, as we may open the door for more ventilation. We also suggest bringing a water bottle! Otherwise, just bring yourself and be ready to have a good time!

Age 16+, under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian.

Your instructor, Jaime Maginnis, has years of practice with welding. He enjoys indulging others' curiousity in metal, and we are so glad he agreed to teach with us! Our President and Director, Lucy and Linore, as well as donor match Mark got to be his guinea pigs to nail down the class flow and it was a blast!
