About this event

New England Kudo is bringing Kudo - the full-contact Japanese mixed martial art - to Connecticut!

Join us for an Introduction to Kudo Seminar and get a light taste for the sport.

What is Kudo?
Kudo is a full contact mixed martial art. The sport's roots lie in Kyokushin Karate. In Kudo, we combine striking (like karate, boxing and kickboxing), throws (like Judo and Wrestling) and ground grappling (like Brazillian Jiu Jitsu). We also allow headbuts, elbows and knees.

Although Kudo is a full contact sport, we emphasize sustainability and longevity through a variety of protective equipment and a rule set that minimizes risk.

Kudo is a Japanese martial art, so you can expect a little ceremony. However, Kudo embraces a very contemporary approach to combat, teaching and learning:

Take what works, leave the rest.

What To Expect:

This introduction will give you a taste for the sport and the vibe of our training. Kudo IS a contact sport, so there will be unavoidable person to person contact. You can also expect to sweat a little. Since this is just a taster, there wil be no sparring (this time).

What To Wear:

Do you own a Gi (the pyjama uniform)? If so, wear that! It doesn't matter what colour or sport it's from. Wear a white belt if you've got one. If you don't own a gi, just wear what you'd normally exercise in.

What To Bring:

A water bottle and towel. It's always a good idea to bring a mouthguard if you've got one.

The Price:

The seminar costs between $5 and $10 on the day. Pay what you can.

Who Should Come: Soulcraft and New England Kudo are proudly diverse, welcoming and inclusive environments. Kudo is appropriate for adults (16 years plus).
