In this three-part class, you will learn the basics of photography, how photography can be used as a storytelling tool, and explore staged photography.
On day one, we will learn: aperture– depth of field, shutter speed, and ISO as we become comfortable using a digital camera with all its various settings.
Day two, we will start creating our photographic series and discuss how photography can be a storytelling medium.
In our last class, we will play with found objects, think I Spy books, to create a tableau as our final photo in our series.
This class is open to people of all skill levels, whether you're looking to get back into photography or are new.
This class is taught by visiting artist Rox Boyle. Rox has developed this class based on their art practice - this is the only time they will be teaching this here at Alchemy, so if you are interested, be sure to sign up!
This class is held in the print studio in the main art building on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.
Dates: We meet for three 2-hour sessions in this class:
Tuesday 5/13, Wednesday 5/14, and Thursday 5/15 from 6-8pm.
Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.

Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes.
