Girls in Tech NYC

This class is a hands-on introduction to DevOps: popular practices that combine software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops). 

Hello Girls in Tech Members + Friends,This event is open to You!Over the last decade, DevOps has gone from a “niche trend” to mainstream, becoming a key focus and shaping the world of software. According to Gartner, upwards of 50% of enterprises with a development function apply DevOps to part or all of their portfolio. Basic DevOps understanding is a critical skill for almost anyone in tech, and the demand for DevOps engineers has never been greater!This training will give you: Basic information about the Software Development Lifecycle and DevOps; what it is and what is is not. Get hands on experience with essential DevOps tools. Learn how to create: <ul><li>Microservices (Containers) </li><li>Continuous Integration &amp; Continuous Delivery/Deployment </li><li>Infrastructure as Code </li><li>Monitoring and Logging </li></ul>Discuss how to influence adopting a DevOps culture at your organizationAbout the instructors: Mollie Gaufin is the Senior Manager of Engineering - DevOps at Solutionreach, a company focused on Patient Relationship Management software. She received her first degree at Brigham Young University for Public Health, but realized she wasn’t interested in working in that field. After working her way up to a Business Analyst position, she got a taste for technology and went back to school for Information Systems and Technologies. This led to a position as a Quality Assurance Engineer, where she worked hard to learn and grow into a Director of DevOps and QA role. Mollie is passionate about introducing women and girls to the technology field, and is actively involved in those communities in Phoenix, Arizona.Alexmil Reyes has been working with Linux based platforms since 2014. During his tenure, he has worked in large publicly traded companies as well as the asset management industry. Before working as an IT operations engineer, Alexmil performed hardware repairs as an Apple Certified Mac Technician. During his time as a repair technician, he created and facilitated training for hardware repair and troubleshooting. In a previous life, he worked in the NYC music industry/scene and graduated with honors in Music from CCNY in 2013.
