Intro to Creating Documentaries

NYC Resistor is a hacker collective with a shared space located in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. We meet regularly to share knowledge, hack on projects together, and build community. An introduction to the founding steps of starting a documentary film project, from composing the idea to conversing with potential subjects.

For anybody and everybody interested in making a documentary! This introductory class will introduce the founding steps to starting a documentary film project, from composing your idea to conversing with potential subjects and interviewees to scheduling. The class won't get into technical skills like camera work or editing. There’s a decent amount to talk through before you run off and pick up camera! No prior film experience needed. All proceeds will go to NYC Resistor. Who is this for? People interested in making their own documentary, whether for themselves or to share a story they're passionate about. No materials or prior experience needed. Your instructor:Jared Leong - I'm a documentary filmmaker based out of NYC. Filmed all around the country and internationally as well, focused as a producer/director. This is a masks optional workshop.As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct.
