Looking for a welcoming, interactive, and hands-on space to learn American Sign Language? Whether you're a parent, educator, caregiver, or just curious about the beauty of ASL, this class is for you!
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧?
This 4-week class is more than just learning signs—it's about connecting through communication, building a strong foundation in ASL, and gaining insight into the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. You'll leave each class with new knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to engage with sign language in everyday life.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬:
Meets: Wednesdays – May 14th, 21st, 28th & June 4th
Time: 6:45 PM - 8:15 PM
Location: Creative Veins Performing Arts
Level: Beginner-Friendly (No prior experience needed!)
Limited to 10 students (May expand if there's interest!)
Cost: 150 (covers all 4 weeks + materials + break-time snacks/drinks + graduation certificate)
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧:
• A brief history of ASL & an introduction to Deaf culture
• The ASL alphabet + how & when to fingerspell
• Core handshapes and visual grammar fundamentals
• Practical signs for everyday communication (especially helpful for non-verbal children & adults)
• Navigating interactions with Deaf and Non-Verbal individuals—with and without interpreters
• Understanding technologies & services that support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞:
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a solid base in ASL vocabulary and etiquette, a deeper appreciation for Deaf culture, and tools you can start using right away—whether you’re supporting a loved one, working in a service setting, or simply expanding your communication skills.
