B﻿FA Visual &amp; Critical Studies is pleased to host a multi-event open studios on Thursday, April 27 from 5-8 PM featuring the work of current VCS students.<ul><li>I﻿ntimate Documents, on exhibit in the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/234901790320628/sva-flatiron-project-space/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Flatiron Project Space</a>, features the work of the BFA VCS graduating seniors. Usually, our graduating seniors reveal an array of urges and temperaments. There is often work relating to political, psychological and social issues as well as art history. This year, as diverse as the individuals appear, kiarita, Selena Lin, Jeans O'Donnel, Inna Smolina and Bella Ybarra share an inclination to personal reflection and storytelling. Introspection has overcome activism. More information on the exhibition can be found <a href="https://sva.edu/events/intimate-documents" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>.</li></ul><ul><li>A﻿nother Last Dance, the annual BFA VCS open studios, features the work of current seniors, juniors and other underclassmen in the 4th floor studios and hallways. The open studios will include a series of special screenings, immersive installations and performances. Graduating seniors exhibiting work in room 406C include: Bridget Ashvil, Quincy Goetze, kiarita, Jiayin (Selena) Lin, Hetong Ma, Jeans O’Donnel, Inna Smolina and Bella Ybarra. The VCS juniors, like their senior counterparts, enjoy stretching themselves creatively via the use of a wide variety of mediums. Artists exhibiting in room 405C include: Adrian Apollo, Eden Caine, Ellyce Chisholm-Matzek, Matthew Cohen, Malena Del Pino, Tomas Dominguez, Morgan Frey, Diana-Mercedes Hieb, and Serena Hanzhi Wang. Performances scheduled in room 405C include: 6:30 PM, Siren floor by Morgan Frey; 7:00 PM Como La Flor by Lucy Gaehring. Pick up a ticket in the 4th floor studios for free <a href="https://www.instagram.com/vanleeuwenicecream/?hl=en" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Van Leeuwen ice cream</a>. </li></ul><ul><li>H﻿ands Off My Books, an art book/monograph sale in the 4th floor library, with all volumes priced at $1.00 and the proceeds going to support <a href="https://www.bklynlibrary.org/books-unbanned" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Books Unbanned</a>, the online library created to make “banned books” available. All books for sale are donated by faculty of the School of Visual Arts and the VCS library. The project is organized by the VCS class “Art Industry/ Professional Practices” and faculty member Peter Hristoff. Free coffees and espresso drinks by the <a href="https://www.steadyhandcollective.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Steady Hand Cafe &amp; Collective</a> in the 4th floor library.</li></ul>

For on-campus events, SVA requires all guests to provide proof of vaccination and booster; without proof of vaccination and booster you will not be able to enter SVA buildings. Visitors should bring their Eventbrite registration with them to the event. Masks encouraged but not required. We will proceed with caution, however, and should numbers spike, we may need to reintroduce the mask requirement policy.SVA wants to ensure persons with disabilities have access to this event.
