About this event

Interwoven: Afternoon Container Gardening for Spouses

Special Operations Forces Spouses are invited to join The Station Foundation to experience the many health benefits of working with plants. Participants will be guided by outStation staff to plant tomatoes, marigolds, and basil.

Gardening is one way to maintain your health and enjoy time outside. Unplugging from technology and stepping outside to do work in the garden is refreshing for the mind and spirit.

A garden connects us with Nature to heal and nourish our health and wellbeing on many levels. Connecting with the earth through gardening is a perfect place to practice mindfulness because it invites you to be present.

Research shows gardening relieves stress, improves your mood and increases your self-esteem. When people spend time in a garden, their anxiety level drops, and they feel less depressed. If you’re digging, hauling, and harvesting, your physical strength, heart health, weight, sleep, and immune systems all benefit. Gardening can also cultivate feelings of empowerment, connection, and creativity.

New to Interwoven events with The Station? Welcome! Our outStation Facilitator, Randi Pongo, will be in contact with you to share our mission and confirm your Special Operations Forces affiliation.
